Your New Years Resolutions
The holiday season and the last week of December
is the time when everyone takes a few moments to look back
on the year now ending and consider where the time has gone
and what they have accomplished. This is also the time of
year when these same people begin to sit down and begin to
put down their goals for the New Year, their resolutions.
This year is of special importance in several
ways. It is not only the end of a year, but also the end of
a particularly difficult one. This, in particular, will have
powerful ramifications for many people. Rather than it being
"just one more new year", this will be very different.
This New Year will be the end of one period of time, and then
the beginning of a new fresh one. I believe that this New
Year more than any other, will motivate people to reflect
on their lives more than ever before, and more carefully consider
their future.
Among the things that will be considered during
this time are, people's personal relationships with a spouse
or mate, family, jobs, and place of residence. This is especially
the time of year when health issues rise to the top of the
list, such as weight and work out habits. Under Christmas
trees, many that found bikes, tread mills, roller blades,
and other work out equipment waiting for them, with the best
of intentions to use them regularly in the coming new year.
As the new wears off of the equipment, and the year wears
on, it is very common that the motivation wears off.
There are many reasons that theses newly conceived
resolutions wear off...
- The chosen resolution may be only a shadow of the resolution
actually needed.
- The resolution may not have been made specific enough.
- The resolution may not have been in steps easy enough
to accomplish gradually.
- There may have been no specific plans made, with back-ups
in case those fail.
- These plans may not have written down so that steps could
be taken and "checked-off" as they were accomplished.
- Proper support, which is crutial to goal attainment, may
not have been sought out and followed.
- Few, or no "in-route" assessments were taken
and corrective adjustments made.
THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE CASE AT ALL.
Personal consultants, sometimes referred to
as coaches, can be your strategic partner in success. A coach
is able to help facilitate all phases of your New Years resolutions,
such as defining, benchmarking, planning, and helping to set
timetables. All of these areas are critical in the completion
of these resolutions with the desired results.

us for more details on how personal consulting can help you
with your resolutions, and your goals for the New Year.
